Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Fernspray Gold'
This upright selection has
a dense pyramidal growth habit with beautifully twisted golden fern-like
flattened branches. It is similar to C. obtusa 'Tetragona Aurea' but has
less orange and more lemon coloration. It also holds its branches more
horizontal than 'Tetragona Aurea' and it takes well to pruning but grows
much slower. The hardiness is zone 5 and size is just barely in the
intermediate catagory with growth in the 6 feet high in ten years range.
This selection always adds colorful interest and excitement in the
landscape.
