' Here is a nice slower growing form of the Inkberry. It has darker green leaves than the species and is much more compact it is also deer resistant
. It will tolerate many adverse conditions but not alkaline soils. Grows best in full sun with a moist well drained soil but it will also do very good in city conditions and partial shade. A great choice for a hedge or background planting or in mass planting.
' Here is another excellent hybrid from Dr. Elwin Orton's
Ilex breeding program at Rutgers University, NJ. In the past we incorrectly sold this particular cultivar as 'Rock Garden
'. The plant has been mixed up in the trade and this is now the new name. Anyway it is a fantastic selection and we never seem to have enough of this one. It has nice dark green shiny leaves and a nice dwarf habit. One plant we have is 14 years old and only about 15" high.
